Mike McCrorie and Devon Curry

Mike is another guy me and jim grew up skating with. Anything that could go wrong would happen to mike haha. Mike told me a story about when he worked at a haunted hayride. He was one of those guys that jumps on the hayride and scares you. The one time he jumped on the hayride and he fell off haha. the hayride ran over him haha. He was screaming and everything for help but they thought it was part of the show haha. Stuff like that would always happen to him. Mike is always fun to skate with. Hes in Florida now and is going into the navy so I dont get to seem him much but whenever hes home we try to meet up and skate.

Devon was one of those souderton skate kids when we were growing up. Devon wouldnt skate for months and come out and could still do everything. Dev was always fun to skate with. I always thought he had a cool style.

Heres their shared part in our "Creatures of Habit" video from 07. We filmed this in a couple of months and it even got cut short when mike broke his foot 180ing a dumpster I told him to do. Sorry again mike. I still think they both did some cool stuff like mikes wallie up the barrier, mikes 180 switch manny at landis and devs fakie bigspin manny at landis.

Extra Tricks (4/25-26/09)

This weekend was pretty sick. Saturday we went to the dustbowls. We had a good crew too. It was me, Collin Bauder, Joey Christoffers, Tyler Lindsey, Alex Robinson, Joey Paone, Jeff Colombo and Erik Mangal. Dustbowls is a fun place to skate but its not easy. There were a lot of slams but we did get some sick stuff. Collin and Joey Christoffers tried to skate the big up ledge and took some pretty hard slams. Joey C and Collin killed it on the launch ramp thing. Joey was getting crazy air on the filmin board. Then chop and tyler found this bank to ledge thing that was tough to skate but Chop, Joey C and Collin managed to get some good stuff on it.

After that we had a pretty good sesh at wedge. Joey got a sick line that ive seen him do probably 10 times but we finally filmed it. I was glad to see Chop out. Hes been grounded forever.

Sunday we skated philly. We had a big crew this time too. It was me, Collin Bauder, Joey Christoffers, Jeff Colombo, My brother Jimmy, Mangal, Chop and Tyler Lindsey. We all met up with Jeff and Collin at Cecil. From there Jeff took us around the city. First we skated this pretty fun wallride spot. Then we went to Burnt Cat to skate the benches (I have no clue why they call it that if anybody knows hah) Collin and Joey got some good lines.

Then We went to the Oregon ledges. That spot is really fun. The ledges grind so good. Erik got a good line and jim learned a pretty sick trick. Then we headed to FDR. I basically just watched Collin and Joey kill the ramp. Thanks to Jeff for showing us around today and to Erik for drivin. Jimmy brought his 8mm camera to the city too. Im excited to see how that stuff turns out.

Mike Yandoli and Doug Cole

Mike and Doug were a part of the other crew of skateboarders in Harleysville when we were growing up. Mike was one of the only guys we skated with who would actually want to go to manual pads with me. thanks mike. Mike is one of those people who has 6 or 7 dialed tricks and can do them all the time. I liked his kickflip manual around the electrical boxes at ames. Thats so hard to keep speed. He always had good double flips and the one over the telford church set was pretty sick.

Doug would come out skating for a month and then I wouldnt see him for a month. It didnt really seem to effect him much though. He did a lot of stuff of camera that was pretty crazy. I liked his noseslide at the telford church and he made the THP rails look easy.

"Creatures of Habit" Falls Section and Close tricks

Heres some old clips of some falls and close tricks from 06 and 07 while we were filming for our video "Creatures of Habit".

falls Section from focus17 on Vimeo.

featuring Pat Owens, Jimmy Simpson, Mike yandoli, Mike McCrorie, John Provencher and Billy Simpson.

The one clip where my friend Mike McCrorie tried to 180 the dumpster, I remember feeling super bad. Mike had already landed it but I thought he could do it better so I asked him to try it again. the next try he fell and broke his foot. Sorry mike.

There were a lot of close tricks that would have been pretty sick. John Provencher hardflip over grafton was pretty crazy. I dont know how people do them over gaps. He got so close but it never went down.

Another clip was jimmys front blunt at Gwynedd Mercy College. He got so close so many times but just couldnt put it down. It was Thanksgiving 3 years ago and I remember he got to tired and broke his board. When we were leaving some security guard parked us in so we couldnt leave. He called the cops but they never came and he had us wait an hour or so. We ended up missing thanksgiving dinner. My parents were pretty pissed.

Jims kickflip over the swenksville 10 was sick. He landed on it probably 5 times. It would have been perfect if his tail didnt snap.

More Extra Tricks From "Collective"

We filmed for collective for a long time. I made those extra tricks montages and forgot some tricks. Heres some extra tricks and close tricks while filming for "Collective".

The first spot that chop skates is in New Jersey. The ledge was just wide enough for your board. I dont know how he skated that thing. Chop got like 8 tricks that day. he killed it.

Jimmy has gotten so close to some good tricks over that bump to grass gap. 360 flip is pretty crazy.

Pat Owens tre flip over the grafton gap in souderton was still pretty sick. He didnt like it though so we kept it out. Thats a gap we all grew up skating.

Extra Tricks (4/19/09)

Sunday was a good day. I went skating with kyle and tyler at landis for a little bit til we got kicked out. Then me and ty went to the merck banks. Ty almost got a pretty good trick. Those things are not easy to skate.

Then we met up with Joey christoffers, Dylan Hondros and Collin Bauder and we drove up to Plymouth meeting to some gaps and a rail. Collin and Dylan got some sick tricks on the gap and joey got so close to inward heel. Then joey started skating some ridiculous rail. I dont know how he can skate that stuff. But thats gonna be in our next video. After that collin skated this sketchy roller coaster ledge thing. Gettin up on that thing looked so hard.

Extra Tricks (4/18/09) and Game of Skate

Saturday was pretty good. First we went to a Game of Skate competition at the Harleysville Courts. Davis Trinh organized it and he did a really good job. There were probably 20 kids in the competition. I ended up getting third, Kevin Pham came in second and jimmy came in first. Good job Davis!

We went street skating after that. First the THP rails. Joey Paone was trying front board and Collin Bauder was trying front nose. Joey got pretty close but it didnt work out but Collin landed his. These things are real high and so hard to do anything on. Then we went to this bump to grass gap thing. Its harder to skate then it looks and there were a lot of close tricks. Joey Paone and Collin got some good stuff that were probably gonna save for the video.

Then we went to Bones grill ledge. This thing is hard to skate too. Collin, Joey Paone and Joey Christoffers got some good stuff that will be in our next vid. Collin was getting so close to fs 5-0 bigspin out but the camera died.

Heres some extra tricks and close tricks from the day. Blake did a real nice boned out ollie but i missed that. But of course i got the time that he didnt have enough speed so he tried an early grab. I thought it was hilarious haha. sorry blake. next time Ill actually film your trick.

Pat Owens "Creatures of Habit"

Ive known Pat for a good 6 or 7 years. Him and his friends used to be the other crew in harleysville haha. I remember there was some competition between him and my brother jimmy. Pat made a little part and as his ender he ollied this gap in harleysville. When we made our second video "Focus" jimmy ollied the same gap as his first trick. I think pat thought he did that on purpose haha.

Pats got a lot of pop. His flip tricks are high and he has no problem getting on high ledges. He can nollie into any grind. Ive seen him do some really tech stuff. Sometimes he can lose his temper a little bit haha.

Pat Owens from focus17 on Vimeo.
Heres his part in our video "Creatures of Habit". Some of my favorite tricks were the nollieflip manual and nollie varial heel manny at the north montco pad. The cab over the metal barrier in souderton. The nollie flip down the 7 in telford and the switch bs flip over the worcester gap

Pats gets pretty frustrated sometimes. watch in high quality

"Collective" Friends Section

featuring in order of appearence: Nick Shirts, Anthony Forbes, Collin Welch, Aj Scrozak, Drew, Pat Hennigan, Mike Yandoli, Alex Candelori, Julian Hellar, Jim Geary, Travis Iffrig, Kittrell Norman, John Kroesser, Mike McCrorie, Mark Beids, Dooney, Cory Quigley, Joey Christoffers, James Cowley, Kenny Killian, Jake Hoffman, Jeff Colombo, Nate Cordero and Brian Panebianco.

I always like filmin friends sections. Just having all these different styles in one part. Filmin this part i pretty much just hung out at wedge and something was always happening.

Some highlights for me were Nick landing the rock to fakie right when we had to leave. I didnt film Johns stuff but having his tricks in our video was awesome. He has such a good style and everything he does is clean. thanks again Brad allen for the footage. Collin Welchs shuvit nosegrind 180 run that only took him like 5 mintues. Watching joey fly over that ramp. I think he kickfliped it too I had to go to work before i could film it. KK doing his first blunt kickflip out perfect and Brian doin like 8 sick tricks in the span of probably 20 minutes. He did the last trick pretty easily. We actually filmed it twice.

We still have dvds on sale for 10 dollars.

Extra Tricks "Collective"

We filmed for Collective a little longer then most of are videos. Mostly due to how long it took to edit everything. We filmed from August 07 to December 08. So we had a lot of extra footage. While Jimmy was working on the real video I edited the all the extra tricks into a couple montages.

Watch it in high quality. It looks way better

Extra Tricks (4/14/09)

Heres some extra tricks featuring Cory Quigley, Jeff Colombo, Pat McCullion and Joey Christoffers trying some ridiculous trick. Cory is another new guy who is going to have a part in our next video. Hes a real little kid like 14 or something with a really good style. Hes always smooth and he has a lot of good stuff from earlier this year. Pat had a part in collective that was pretty sick. His manual tricks dont make any sense to me. He can tre flip out of manual consistently. He is also going to have a part in our new video.

Billy Simpson "Creatures of Habit"

This is my part from our video "Creatures of Habit" filmed from 06 to 07. Not the greatest skating but some of these tricks I was pretty happy with. A couple tricks I liked were the nosemanny 3 shuv line at wedge cause that was one of the first times I did that trick, the fakie shuv switch manny cause that trick is still hard for me and the nollie 360 manual at the north montco pad. That one took forever.

Falls (4/12/09)

Happy Easter! This weekend was good. We got some good clips on friday and later that night I got to see Beirut with my brothers, my brothers girlfriend and my girlfriend. They were amazing. Heres a clip of some falls and some almost tricks from jimmy since we have been filming for our new video. featuring in order of appearance Alex Robinson, Pat Hennigan, Collin Bauder and Jimmy Simpson.

John Provencher "Creatures of Habit"

John doesnt really skate anymore but we definitly had some good times. I miss skating with him. Hes a really funny kid. Every time we would go out skating him and tyler would end up doing some dumb shit or fighting or something haha. This is his part from our video "Creatures of Habit" from 2007. He got way better the next year. He really didnt like a lot of his tricks in his part cause he had gotten a lot better. His part in "Collective" is sick but you'll have to buy the dvd to see it.

John Provencher from focus17 on Vimeo.

John kills it on his mini ramp. That thing is hard to skate too. Heres a clip from winter 07. We spent a lot of time in his garage skating the ramp. He was always fun to watch on that thing. We made this clip one day when we got bored.

Extra Tricks (4/9/09)

Heres some extra tricks. Featuring featuring alex robinson, pat hennigan, Billy Simpson, Tyler Lindsey and Collin Bauder. The spot that chop does the wallride line is sick. Its seriously like 100 feet jersey barrier thats flush with the ground so its way easier to wallride it. Tyler got some sick stuff on it.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Jimmy Simpson "Creatures of Habit" 2007

Jimmy is my younger brother and we grew up skating together. The first thing people always use to ask was who is better. jimmy has always been better haha. im okay with that. It always seemed like it came easier to him. He was always the youngest one out of all of us and usually the best one haha. He has edited all of our videos. Each video has gotten better and better. Even though he doesnt skate as much as he used he hasnt lost anything. He will not skate for weeks and come out and do something new. Hes filmed some sick stuff lately, especially this one line at Baldi.

Heres his part from our video "Creatures of Habit". We filmed this video from September 2006 to August 2007. The fs flip switch manny down the north montco pad is still one of my favorite tricks ive seen jim do.

"Collective"

This is old now but Heres our trailer for our 4th video and the last video we made "Collective". It actually ended up being the intro to our video too because we ran out of time before the premiere. It was probably one of the most stressful days of my life. We stayed up all night before the premiere and Jimmy literally finished editing the video an hour before the premiere. We almost couldnt show it because our dvd burner wasnt working. But filming for "Collective" was a lot of fun.

We worked really hard on it. I dont know how many hours I spent filmin people and I know everybody in it worked really hard on getting tricks. I think everybodys parts turned out really good and jim did a great job editing like he always does. We Filmed from August 07 to November 08. We ended up having two premieres. One at Branch Church in Harleysville and one at the Sellersville Theatre. I want to say thanks to Mr.and Mrs.Quigley for letting have one at the Sellersville Theatre. There really great people and really helped us out.

A lot of new guys were in this one. It features Jimmy Simpson, Billy Simpson(Me), John Provencher, Kyle Schmidt, Pat Owens, Vinni Prosseda and the new guys were Alex Robinson, Pat McCullion, Tyler Lindsey, Devon Russell and Erik Mangal. There were a lot of new people in the friends section too. We still have some copies left for sale if anyone is interested, their 10 dollars each.

collective trailer from focus17 on Vimeo.

Joey Paone and Jeff Colombo

Joey and Jeff are two new guys that will have parts in our next video. Jeff always lands his tricks solid and kills the bank at wedge. He seriously has done all the tricks you can think of on that thing haha. You will see in his part. Joey has a real good style too. I think hes one of those guys that is better at heelflips the kickflips and you can really see it in this stuff we have been filming. He already has some really good clips. both of their parts are gonna be sick.

Heres some extra tricks of Joey and Jeff and one clip of jeff from our last video "Collective" front bluntsliding the bank at wedge. He seriously makes it look so easy.

Joey Christoffers

Alright so theres good news. Joey is home from the hospital and doin okay! He still isnt really allowed to go to sleep because of the concussion. Pretty scary stuff. I wasnt to sure if I should post the clip of him falling but joey wants to see it haha. He doesnt remember a thing. Its probably the worst thing ive ever seen in person.

Joey Christoffers

Joey Christoffers is an amazing skateboarder. He kind of reminds me of a football player the way he just charges things and go full speed at everything. He'll just put his ipod on and just run at something. Joey got hurt pretty bad today trying to fs smith the landsdale catholic rail. The rail is pretty long with no ride up. its really not a good rail at all. He just charged it and slid the whole thing first try. The next try he came up short and fell so hard on his back and his head hit the ground really bad. He was knocked out for a little bit. He is in the hospital now. He has a cracked skull, internal bleeding in his head, and blurred vision in his left eye. My best wishes go out to him right now. Get better soon man.

This photo was taken right after he fell. After he gained conciousness the first thing he said was "another day" haha. He still wanted to try the rail after that. He even wanted to go to another spot. Joey is a beast. Heres joey skatin on the longboard. Joey has been landing a lot of great stuff lately and he kills it on the longboard haha. Its seriously ridiculous.

Erik Mangal

Erik is great guy and amazing skateboarder. He started his own board company called Mangalwood skateboards. There great boards and there really blowin up in our area. Hes got boards for 35 dollars including griptape and t-shirts for 10 dollars. Support a local skater and buy some Mangalwood product.

Heres a link to Mangalwoods Myspace page

http://www.myspace.com/mangalwood

Heres a clip we made the other day of Erik riding his new Rayskin board.
heres a link to their site. They make some sweet cruiser decks

http://www.rayskin.com/

Tyler Lindsey

Tyler is fun to watch on a skateboard. He always comes up with really sketchy ideas for tricks and always wants to skate the worst spots haha. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. But either way its fun to watch.

Some clips of some of his great skatespot ideas haha.

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Chop

Some close tricks. Right after he fell on the wallride he got up and slammed his board into the wall and it popped back and hit him right in the chin haha. I wish I could have got that.

Chop is crazy. first of all his real name is Alex Robinson and his nickname doesnt make any sense but thats okay haha. Chop always tries stuff ive never seen him do and has never tried and usually lands it. Thats pretty much how filmin for collective went and how its goin for our new one.
