YOUnited Nations Entry and Joey Christoffers Clip

Heres a YOUnited Nations Entry that some of the younger guys that skate wedgewood made. I really liked all the guys stuff at China bump, the pivot to fakie bigspin on the blue ramp, Dustins heelflip over that grass gap and Marks kinked 5050 ender.

Also heres a clip of Joey Christoffers ollieing an 11 set on a cold windy night.

Erik Mangal "Collective"

I met Erik 2 or 3 years ago. Before I really got to know him I would see him at Wedgewood with all the local guys. He was really intimidating haha. He was super tall and really good and didnt really go out of his way to talk to new people at wedge haha. But I understood, he saw it as the more people came to wedge the more chances there will be problems and stuff will get ruined.

I would hear all these stories from my friends that already knew him. One of my favorite stories was one that my friend Devon Curry told me. Devon was skating the Souderton Highschool one day when Erik and one of his friends showed up. Devon had already knew him and told him to try something down the 11 stair. If you grew up skating in the Harleysville or Souderton area the highschool 11 was something everybody talked about. I dont think Erik was really feeling it so Devon said he would buy him some chicken nuggets. So Erik went up and fs 180d it first try haha.

I still remember the first clip I filmed of him in the winter of 2007. It was a nosemanny revert to switch manny on the high pad at wedge. It was freezing and he had his glittens on haha (A combo of mittens and gloves). I remember he couldn't really try the trick that many times cause he was weak from the chemotheraphy. I found out Erik had cancer before I met him and I felt sorry for him. The only thing he wanted to do was skate and the cancer was keeping him from it. But Erik was always positive. I couldn't believe it. I thought about what if I was in that situation. I would be so depressed and bitter. But he never complained. He barely even brought it up. It really inspired me to see someone in that situation with such a positive attitude.

When me and Erik really started skating together a lot, he was already going through chemotheraphy. These regular treatments really take a toll on a persons body. They would make him really weak but he would always come out skating and still blow me away with his tricks. Eventually Erik was going to have to have a Stem Cell transplant that was gonna put him in the hospital for at least a month and he probably wouldnt be back to his full strength for about a year. Before he went into the hospital we tried to film as much as we could. Because of the lack of time we had we really just stuck around wedgewood and other local spots.

I remember the last two weeks before Erik went to the hospital I was going to wedge whenever I could to film Erik. Even if it was for a quick hour before I had to go to work. We tried to get as much footage as we could before he went into the hospital. Erik went into the hospital Late June and was in there til mid July. While Erik was in there we tried to gather together all the footage we could of Erik. We wanted to combine the new footage we had of Erik with some stuff from the past few years that he had filmed with other people. Thanks to Anthony Travis, Brad Allen, Brian Panebianco and Collin Welch for getting us footage of Erik and letting us use it in our video.

After Erik got out of the hospital he could barely walk let alone skate. But as time went on you could see him getting stronger and back to his old ways. Its been over a year since Eriks stem cell transplant and Erik is doing great. He is still killin it at wedgewood and has been cancer free since his stem cell transplant. If thats not an inspiring story I dont know what is.

I cant say enough about Eriks skating. I love Eriks part. His manuals and lines are so effortless. My favorite is defitely the bs smith on the white bench tre flip manny on the granite pad line. That is a pretty old clip that Anthony Travis filmed. I was blown away when I saw that. How perfect both tricks are.

Eriks part in our a video is just a small section of the things he is capable of. Its not like he asks me "Hey I wanna try these really hard tricks do you want to film them?" Most of the stuff in this part is stuff he does on a regular skate day. I would usually ask him if I could film it.

Erik kills the granite pad. Thats his favorite thing to skate. Brian Panebianco filmed his half cab nosemanny bigspin out. Thats another one of my favorite tricks in his part. Just the other day I saw him do a perfect nosemanny nollie fs flip out.

I filmed eriks two lines at the harleysville bank pads. That spot is hard enough to get a good manny trick on the first pad let alone get two lines their on both pads. Its so hard to set up that quick to get over the 3 stair. Erik is the only guy I know who can pull off stuff like that.

Eriks last 4 tricks Anthony Travis filmed and they are amazing. Nollie flip bs 5-0 on the brick at wedgewood, Switch Flip over the Barrier that I later found out was first try, nollie cab over china bump and cab over the 6 stair in quakertown.

If you have ever skated china bump you know how rough the landing is and how fast you have to go to clear that top of the ramp. Easily one of my favorite tricks at China bump and there has been a lot of them.

The quakertown 6 set that no longer exist was a pretty high six stair. I remember being psyched when I switch ollied it and my brother switch fs 180ed it. Eriks cab is defintely the best thing that was done down that set and I dont think he could have done it better.

Extra Tricks (January 17th, 2010) Winter Break

Heres some old extra tricks from last spring and winter and some new ones from over winter break.Featuring Jimmy Simpson, Alex "Chop" Robinson, Erik Mangal, Joey O'Brien, Pat McCullion, Joey Christoffers, Mark Beids and Matt Powell.

Jimmys front board was really scary. You cant tell cause I filmed it bad but there was a big drop on the other side of the guardrail. I really liked his no comply on the quaterpipe. I cant figure them out. Jimmy learned nosegrind pop outs really well. Of course when we go to film it he falls really hard twice.

The clip of Joey O'brien is probably a year old, the tombstone park isnt even there anymore. He was flying down the parking lot. Matt Powell got a really nice line at wedgewood before he left for school with Switch heelflip 5-0 on the granite ledge.

Thanks to Matt who runs the Crookie Monster site, who told me how to get to the brick ledges in plymouth meeting. Me, Jimmy and John Provencher went there Saturday, January 16th. its a really sick spot. Jimmys bs 5-0 looked so nice. After the brick ledges we ended up going to that yellow slanted ledge right down the road that I had driven by so many times. I had seen Kyle Knoblauch do it in an old sponser me video and I always wanted to check it out. Its really slanted and on a steep downhill slope. It was pretty chunky too. The ledge is right next to the turnpike too so when Jimmy was trying it people kept honking and staring at us.

After that we went to wedge and had a good session with everybody. I learned back tails on the quaterpipe thanks to John Provencher. Thanks John! Jimmy was killin it with lines all over the place and me and John had a good game of skate. Damn nollie heels! Erik landed a perfect nosemanny nollie fs flip out. He can make the hardest tricks look so easy.

Me and Jim had tried to film the front blunt kickflip out on 5 or 6 different occasions. It got to the point where thats all he was trying to film everytime we went out. He landed one sketchy thats in this clip but thats the best it's gonna be. Sometimes you have to move on from a trick. Right after that I filmed Jimmy do a grind/manny combo on the planter ledge.

I filmed Mark Beids do a bunch of different pole jam to grind combos at wedge. He makes them look so easy. We set up the barrier after the pole jam and Mark got a pole jam 5-0 on it first try. I asked him to try it again and jimmy filmed him do it. It came out really nice. Then he started trying pole jam to bluntslide on the barrier. After getting a little frustrated Mark finally got it. I was really surprised by that one. Then Mark set up the two flatbars after the barrier haha for the ultimate pole jam grind combo haha. He took the hardest slam before he finally landed it.

Mark Beids pole jam bluntslide. Ridiculous!

Heres some photos of a fun day at wedge on January 10th. The only spot that was dry was the granite ledge but we had a good session on it. Pat did a nosemanny lipslide 270 shuv out. It turned out looking really sick. Erik learned crook to back smiths. Thats a cool looking trick. Collin Welch got so close to bs nosegrind bigspin out across the whole granite ledge.

4th Montage from Kevin Nguyen and Davis Trinh

Filmed by Kevin Nguyen and Edited by Davis Trinh. Featuring Alex "Chop" Robinson, Kevin Pham, Joey O'Brien, Kevin Nguyen, Kenny Killian, Billy Simpson and Jimmy Simpson.

Some favorites in this clip were Jimmys backlip at rite aid in souderton. Kevin Phams fs shuv over china bump was so stylish. Chops 180 at temple ambler was sick. That is a big drop. Joey O'Brien kickflip over the circuit city gap was perfect. I got there after he landed it but im sure it only took him a few tries like always.

Pat Owens "Collective"

I've known Pat for about 6 years. We both grew up skating the same spots. A lot of crappy spots in Harleysville and Souderton haha. Its funny cause when we were little there was this little competitiveness between my brother Jimmy and Pat haha. Pat always surprised me with the tricks he did. He always had a lot of pop and could do a lot of nollie and switch tricks. He has a lot of good ledge tricks.

The shot of Pat falling at the Luther ledges is a pretty funny story. We drove all the way to the spot and nobody was really feeling them. They were pretty steep and scary. Pat decided to go for a tailslide. He kind of hesistated and pretty much jumped out to the ledge and landed ass first. It was ridiculous. He got this big cut on his ass. The following weekend we went to City hall in Philly. We were skating the one ledge that you can grind the inside. Pat got a crook on it and a fs tailslide. He was going for a fs 5-0 180 and slipped out. He hit the same spot on his ass that he hurt at the luther ledges haha. He made the funniest face and said "What the fuck, again!." I couldnt help laughing haha. You can see it at the end of this clip. Pat can get a little frustrated when were filming.

I really liked the ledge tricks that Pat did for this video. His cab noseslides are sick. Thats a really tough trick. The switch 180 5-0 revert and halfcab crook revert were really surprising too. I remember pat randomly learned nollie front crooks at wedge. I dont think he could do them regular haha. We filmed the line with the cab over the can and he wasnt too happy with the way he did it so we filmed it again as a single trick. The single trick one looked so nice.

Another trick that I thought was really different for Pat was the halfcab noseslide to 5-0 on the two stair ledge. Cory Quigley was showing us around the city and took us to that spot. Pat was trying to think of something different to do and the half cab noseslide to 5-0 just worked for him. I love the way it turned out.

Pats nollie bs flip at china bump was the most surprising trick. He had been trying it for a while and it was not working out at all. He couldnt really get the timing right and wasnt popping it very high. Then on one good try he just popped it right and caught it so nice. Definitely one of my favorite tricks that I've seen at that spot.

A couple of tricks Pat really worked for were the 180 fakie 5-0 180 out at the dustbowls. It was the hottest day and Pat took some falls trying the trick. We were all pretty shocked when he pulled it off. The nollie flip noseslide line took a long time to get haha. We probably tried filming it on 3 seperate occasions. We were both relieved when he finally got it.

One day we were randomly skating around souderton and Pat claimed a front board on this high flatbar. We had always seen it but no one ever tried anything. I got so excited that he got it I jumped up and down haha. This is one of my favorite tricks in his part.

Pat is really good at bs 180 nosegrinds. He has a few in his part. My favorite one for sure is the one at baldi on the top stair. Another one of my favorite tricks in his part.

Another old photo of Pat 5-0 the barrier at the flatspot in quakertown. I wish that barrier was still their.
